KAS events was founded in 2002. It is the creation of the Mother - Daughter duo, Patricia K. Slama & Kathryn A. Slama. The name KAS events was derived from Kathryn's initials. Kathryn Ann Slama. The term events was selected to indicate a wider range of services, not just weddings.
A NOTE FROM PATRICIA: I am a graduate of Ball State University. I have taught school at Highland Jr. High, North Central High School and currently for the past 10 years I have been the Head Girl's Tennis Coach at Zionsville High School. I have raised 4 children, all college graduates, with the youngest being Katie, my business partner. I bring to the KAS events team several strengths. My first and strongest strength is my 40+ years of life experiences in leadership and service roles. Beginning with The Junior League of Indianapolis, Day Nursery Auxiliary, PTO President [2 terms] in the Zionsville School system, President of the Wings Ballet [2 terms], Chairman of 18 holes ladies leagues at Crooked Stick Golf Club and Ulen Country Club to name a few. Secondly, my eye for detail is well served in this type of venue. I am there to make sure the "I's" are dotted and all the "T's" are crossed. I have the ability to anticipate a glitch and also have a solution ready! Thirdly, would be my high energy level. This energy with endurance allows me to go the long hours needed to run events smoothly. However, the greatest bonus is being able to share all of these talents with my youngest daughter while establishing and building her business.
A NOTE FROM KATHRYN: When I graduated from Ball State University in 2002, I decided to start my own business specializing in event planning. I graduated with a degree in Public Relations and throughout my course of studies, I was always interested and involved in the "planning" side of public relations In July of 2002, my Mother and I were approached to assist with a friend's wedding. This was a three day event highlighted by a golf tournament for the men, spa day for the girls, rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception. After that action-packed weekend, I knew that that was exactly what I wanted to develop into a business for myself. Laying the ground work for KAS events began with meetings with a business advisor, a graphics artist and an accountant. Selecting a business partner would be easy. I knew my mother would be the best business partner to work with. Her ability to multi-task and her great leadership skills complimented exactly what I needed. I have learned a great deal from her. We even find ourselves finishing one another's thoughts without even saying a word! I truly feel blessed to be doing what I love! I take each and every event personally and plan every detail as if I was planning my own event!
Making your day and celebration stress-free is our job!
